Who We Are
The Scientific Working Group on Digital Evidence (SWGDE) is a non-profit corporation that brings together organizations actively engaged in the field of digital and multimedia evidence. The current SWGDE membership is comprised of approximately 90 forensic experts and practitioners from Federal, State, and Local Law Enforcement as well as private examiners, attorneys, and academia.
What We Do
The SWGDE meets in person three times per year and develops consensus-based standards, best practices, and other reference material for use in the examination of digital and multimedia evidence. We foster communication and cooperation as well as work to ensure quality and consistency within the forensic community.
For over 20 years, the SWGDE has published more than 100 documents that have been used in civil and criminal legal proceedings, countless academic papers and training courses, general casework, and used to develop organizational standard operating procedures around the world.
